Earlier in the year, we received a proposal from The Rushcliffe Golf Club in Leicestershire regarding the formation of a 1909 Club. The 1909 Club is open to all golf clubs world wide who are celebrating their centenary in 2009 and the centenary committee agreed that Loudoun should participate. The inaugural meeting of the 1909 Club was held at the Rushcliffe Golf Club on Thursday 24th April 2008 and was attended by Vice Captain Robin Gebbie and Past Captain Robert Wren. The following code of practice for the '1909' Club was agreed.
CODE OF THE 1909 CLUB
All golf clubs which celebrate their centenary in 2009 are eligible to join the 1909 Club.
The object of the 1909 Club is to create privileges for its members by granting them facilities to play on each other's courses in 2009 and thereafter, subject to the conditions set out below.
Subject to the traditions and internal commitments of the club, e.g. Ladies Day, weekends, inter club matches etc, every 1909 club will give courtesy of the course to all playing members of the other 1909 clubs.
Member clubs of the 1909 Club who wish to avail themselves of the privileges of the scheme must first confirm with the club at which they wish to play that a tee time will be available on the day that they wish to play.**They shall also present to the club they are visiting a letter of introduction from their home club's secretary.
It is not intended that the 1909 Club will be a vehicle for Golf Society outings and that no more than eight players from a club will book to play at another club on any one day
** Members who wish to book a time at any of the 1909 Clubs in 2009 and thereafter must do so through our own secretary. Members must not contact other 1909 clubs themselves.
